"I signed up for Dina's yoga class at Mastick Senior Center at the invitation of a friend. I had started having hip pain and hoped it might help. Not only was the class perfect for me as a beginner, it made me feel good and the stretch really helped keep my hip flexible and kept me walking. My hip was later diagnosed as osteoarthritis and I was put in line for hip replacement surgery. I continued with several series of Dina's class, doing the stretching and strengthening exercises that my hip pain allowed me to do. Because my leg muscles were strong going into surgery, I had a very fast recovery. I was walking immediately with a walker, then a cane for a very short time. My limp even disappeared. I am now 5 weeks out of surgery and walking up to 3 miles. Dina has a fun, relaxed way of teaching that I really enjoy."

"Your classes are hot and exciting. You are a very responsive and aware leader with dynamic verbal skills. I hope you know how much you safely lead and empower others."

"Thank you again for being our teacher. While I can’t say I’m doing coherent yoga sessions lately, I use it all the time: stretching morning and evening, focusing on breath to relax and go back to sleep in the middle of the night, noticing when I’m doing weird things with my shoulders at the computer. Even that little bit of random awareness and practice helps. "

"Yoga with Dina at Mastick Senior Center has been a fantastic experience for my mind and body. Dina is a FANTASTIC yoga instructor for seniors. She helps you focus on not only increasing your strength and flexibility, but also centering your mind through focus on your breathing. As any good yoga instructor does, she keeps an eye on each of her students and helps with correcting body positioning and any adaptations to poses you may need. I always feel so much better after her class! I find myself taking bits from her class and doing stretches or breathing exercises when I need to re-center or work out tight spots, even if I’m in the grocery store. Try Dina’s yoga classes, you won’t regret it! "

"l have learned a LOT about adaptive athletics since my 1970 rock climbing fall and recovery, and again after dislocating my shoulder in 2019. ...... Thanks for offering alternatives all the time and helping us out; my practice may not look like much but it has helped immeasurably, especially taking class 3x/week. "

"Dina you are so thoughtful. And truly an excellent instructor. You make people feel welcome as if they are in your class, you customize to their needs, you keep the class moving in a gentle way, your helpful knowledge about the body (physiology/anatomy) and specific yoga moves is bountiful, your instruction and demonstration are clear and specific! .... You are 5 stars in my book! And it’s so easy to get burned out now with all the turbulence, unrest, uncertainty and rawness of it all. Thank you for everything you do and how you do it."
-Cathy, Zoom Yoga Student

Dina Hondrogen has been sharing the joy of Yoga since 1997 in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area.
Her journey into Yoga began when chronic neck pain and an injury forced her to give up work and dancing. Iyengar Yoga, with its unique use of props and meticulous guidance, offered her the relief and healing tools she sought. Dina's enthusiasm for Yoga grew, leading her to the 500-hour Teacher Training Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. She apprenticed with both Manouso Manos and Patricia Sullivan. She also delved into Shadow Yoga, Zazen, Pilates, and various movement forms, as well as chanting and mindfulness meditation, all of which she now weaves into her teaching. She is particularly grateful for the summers she spent studying Ayurveda with Dr. Vasant Lad.
Dina remains a student of life, always open to new tools and techniques, which she skillfully integrates into her practice. She resides in the Island city of Alameda.
For Dina, Yoga is a journey that weaves together breath, movement, and meditative awareness. Through our practice, we gradually uncover the profound connection between these elements, nurturing our personal health, well-being and spirit.
